Joseph F. Defino was born in Newark, NJ and graduated from Bucknell University, awarded a B.A. (with honors) in 1974. Joe graduated from Tulane Law School with a Juris Doctor degree conferred in 1977.

After graduation Joe served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas F. Shebell, Jr., for one year and has been a partner with Jacobowitz, Defino, Latimer, Fradkin & O’Toole, PC, since 1991.

Joe’s service to his community and profession include membership on the Family Law Committee of the Monmouth Bar Association. He is a Trustee of Monmouth County Bar Association and is a former Chair of the Early Settlement Panel of the Superior Court in Monmouth County and a former Chair of the Family Law Committee of the Monmouth County Bar Association. He has written and published a chapter in Family Law Practice in New Jersey (Law Practice Handbooks, Inc. 1997), is a member of the American Bar Association, the New Jersey State Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers' Association, NJ. A member of the New Jersey and Florida Bars, Joe is a Qualified Family Law Mediator and is the Municipal Prosecutor for Wall Township, NJ. Joseph is a litigator and is recognized as a zealous advocate for his clients. He brings a panoply of legal experience to the practice of his specialties, family and real estate law and has extensive trial experience. Joe continues to maintain a real estate practice and represents several condominium/home owner associations.
